[Let's Go!]

By orangedrink on October 11, 2020 11:54 pm

Last minute composition and upload!  Did this in less than 2 hours (I think!), used a Reason drum loop and a percussion loop.  Those are the first two elements that you hear, and I brought back the FM toms due to popular demand!

I still have that unfinished song from the previous week, but I was very busy + bad mood, so maybe this week.  I also had a painting due for my "Painting Club" and I did a last minute thing there as well.  I just don't have the energy!  My monitors are on the fritz and I am thinking about buying some new ones.  Maybe KRKs along with a subwoofer, not sure.  If you have recommendations, I'd love to hear them - I also made a thread here:

The track title is supposed to be "Iki masho" which I think is either "Let's go" or "Hurry up" in Japanese, but I wasn't sure of the actually Romaji nor the Hirigana so I guess I'll do that another time.  My husband yells that at me all the time because I'm always late smile

In other news, I gave up on dieting, and am trying to relearn understanding when I'm hungry.  I am very lonely and angry a lot of the time now, but the good news is that I am aware of it and trying to be gentle with myself and make space for the emotions.

I like how the 2 melodies sound to wander apart but sometimes line up to play the same. It gives a strange mood in the song. I really enjoy this shaker sound also smile

The beat is relentless, the bass is dark and the lead synth has a strange melody. There is an interesting imbalance here, it makes it interesting. Interesting composition and ideas for this last minute work!

You possessed all qualifications for a good club-dance-track. If there would have been a little more time left, it could have had an optimal arrangement. But it is still a magnificent highlight. Well done.

It kind of sounds like some robotic industrial krautrock dance mashup to me.  In other words, cool!

Nice, agree the way the 2 melodies are placed creates a great momentum on top of the beat

I like the straight forward "four on the flour" drums.  Starts with a club feel.  Very driven and high energy but then gets much more complex and interesting. All bass, beat and melody.  Very lean with melody lines that are at odds with each other.  Sounds a bit like your mood from your description.

I had to by new monitors this year and went with Yamaha HS5s.  I want a classic flat studio monitor.  Not as fun as listing to my old monitors which had extra bass.  Took a few weeks to get adjusted but now I love them.  Highly recommend them for accuracy but not great if you want a full bass sound.

nice track!
bummer about the monitors :-/
maybe you could try KRKs without a sub, then use your PA w/ sub as a final check.
or -- maybe you could use the PA sub with the KRKs directly?

mmmm those toms.

Oh yais doze toms indeed!  The bass line that comes in has a sinister feel to it.  Especially when the lead synth layers over it.  A bit Reznorish if I'm allowed to say smile  Just 2hours!?  No fair!  I love my KRK Rokit5s.  I can't complain they sound good to me.  Though I don't have a sub so maybe I'm missing out a bit on more bass but these have held up since like 2012ish I believe.

This moves - make we wanna run like Lola up there ... weeee! With a purpose.
Tom tom = good good
Arp = yum

I use some monoprice monitors. Not the best probably, but pretty good, and good price, bass decent on these 8 inchers.

Subs nice, those chair back bass things seem fun too.

Wise idea to by gentle with thyself and make space for emotions. Easier said than done but valuable.

Good last minute tunes!

I just ordered some Rokit 5 G4s because of you (and a subwoofer) so if my mixes aren't as good as yours in the future, YOU'RE IN TROUBLE MISTER.

LOL *hides behind his old KRKs*
Hey at least you have a subwoofer too!  I hope you like em as much as I do.  If not just call customer support and blame it on some bald bearded ginger that works there.  When they say who? Just repeat it louder and more intimidating til they refund your money tongue
